Blessed with perfect features
Blessed with intelligence
U don't know how blessed u are till u see others who are not as fortunate as u are.

Ytd was a really eventful day for me. The starting of my cip attachment programe with DSA. For the uninitiated, DSA simply means Down Syndrome Association. It was really a whole new experence for me seeing those kids/adults being rendered handicapped due to the presence of the extra chromosome. THe 21st chromosome. Now, who ever said more was better??

Interacting with those in the room that i was put in charged of made me realise a couple more things about these special people. (Oh i forgot to say that i was at victoria theatre where there is supposedly a theatre gost haunting the fourth floor. Xp Heex. Anyway, i was there to help out in the event that DSA was having to raise awareness of the DS people. They are having a concert at victoria theatre on the 16th of Dec. U can contat sistic for tix details and the charges are $25 and $35.. I think...) I was put in charged of this dressing room. It happens to be a guys changing room. Hahaz! So what i have here are mostly thoughts that i have about these guys. (No! Don't think dirty!!) At first glance, they look pretty young. Innocent, naive, perfectly comfortable with them calling me jie jie. But, when i started asking for their ages did i realise that omg! they are much older than me only they don't look their age! One of them was even 25!! They just have this babyish look around them i suppose.

Some of them have slurred speech so u have to pay really close attention to them when they are trying to express themselves. It is also perfectly alright to ask them to repeat what they have said. For my case, it took me a while to get used to the slow and slurred form of speech but once i got the hang of it, i realise that they do like the reassurance when u repeat what they said. It is like a confirmation of ur understanding. Sentences are coherent and understandable. =)

They are also affectionate and caring. I was not bored when in their company because just a simple prompt would lead to a whole string of related conversation. Oh! And within minutes of knowing who i am, they started matchmaking me with each other!! Hahaz! How hilarious. They just love to tease each other. Upon seeing others that they know, they do not hesitate but hug each other. I am talking about gals and gals as well as boys and boys as well as gals and boys. There is no awkwardness but just pure and simple affection for each other.

I rmb one scene vividly. One of the guys told me that he is married! I was shocked! It is not as though they can't marry but just that the fact that one of the guys that has been calling me jiejie the whole time is married. It is just too bizarre! After getting my wits back, i asked him "So how old are you again?" And his reply made me laugh. "I am 18". Now now, that is like the legal age to marry but i seriously doubt that he is really married because right after i asked, the rest in the room started declaring that whoever and whoever is married and whoever is my galfriend. Hahaz..I had lots of fun. =)

Now i think i have said enough. For more information, pls do not hesitate and access the following link to learn more. http://www.downsyndrome-singapore.org/
